Who Is Motorsport South Africa (MSA)

MSA is the Autorité Sportive Nationale (ASN), meaning that it is a National Sporting Authority recognized by the FIA as sole holder of sporting power in the country. The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) is the highest authority in world motorsport. MSA is therefore recognised by the Ministry of Sport and Recreation (SRSA) and the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC). This makes MSA the sole motor sport authority in South Africa.

Who is MSA

What Does MSA
Mean for a Drag Racer?

MSA-sanctioned events legitimately record driver achievements, this gives the driver the right to claim their records and accolades. Based on the relevant criteria, MSA will award records and achievements to competitors.

The year 2024 is a transformational year for Drag Racing within South Africa. Outdated regulations were updated in a manner that speaks to the drag racing dynamics in South Africa. This is the first year that 75% of the regions have standardised regulations, and all the regions are now complying with the National Technical Drag Racing Regulations from a safety perspective.

Why race at the SA Drag Nationals?

•    This is an MSA-officiated series.
•    Only MSA can award National Colours for Drag Racing.
•    Only MSA can declare national and even international records.
•    You, as a drag racing competitor, could be awarded provincial colours for drag racing.
•    You, as a prospective competition winner, would receive a recognised MSA award titled “Drag Racing Champion.”

MSA-affiliated drivers efforts at records will go into the official record books and into the “MSA Drag Racing Hall of Fame.” MSA submits claims to the FIA if a driver is attempting an international record. An MSA record is the only official record.
